    What is Personal Possessions Cover?

    Personal Possessions Cover is extra cover you can add with Tesco Contents Insurance.

    It’s insurance for personal property you take with you when you leave home. Like your phone, laptop, tablet or jewellery.

    It provides cover for:

    • loss, theft or damage anywhere in the UK (including your home)loss, theft or damage anywhere in the UK (including your home)
    • up to 60 days when you or your family are abroadup to 60 days when you or your family are abroad

    So if you’re out and about, or travelling, you’ll have cover for the everyday essentials you can’t be without.

      How Personal Possessions Cover can help

      If you add Personal Possessions Cover to your policy, it can help with:

      • repairing a damaged itemrepairing a damaged item
      • replacing an item if it’s lost or stolenreplacing an item if it’s lost or stolen

      That means you won’t need to cover the full cost if something goes missing or gets damaged - at home or while you're out.

          Why add Personal Possessions Cover to your policy?

          Home contents insurance covers the items while they’re inside your home. With this cover extension, you’ll get cover for the things you carry with you every day - both in the UK and when you’re abroad.

          What does personal items insurance cover?

          With our Personal Possessions Cover, your personal items are protected against:

          • Theft - for example, having your bag stolen when you’re travelling.Theft - for example, having your bag stolen when you’re travelling.

          To give you peace of mind, you’re covered:

          • anywhere in the UKanywhere in the UK

          Personal items you’re covered for

          By personal possessions, we mean things like:

          • laptops and tabletslaptops and tablets

          • bags, purses and walletsbags, purses and wallets
          • smartwatches and fitness trackerssmartwatches and fitness trackers

          Your cover amount and specified items

          For personal belongings valued at under £2,000, you can choose additional cover of between £1,000 and £10,000. But it depends on the policy you buy from us.

          If you normally take anything worth more than £2,000 out and about with you, you can list it as a ‘specified item’. By doing that, you can be sure your engagement ring, smartwatch or camera is protected.

          You can cover as many specified items as you like, as long as:

          • No single item is worth more than £20,000No single item is worth more than £20,000

            What’s not covered by Personal Possessions Cover?

            Our Personal Possessions optional extra won’t cover the following:

            You should also note that loss or damage won’t be covered for some items. This includes:

            • crowns, dentures, caps or fillings in teethcrowns, dentures, caps or fillings in teeth

            You also won’t be covered for:

            • wear and tear or gradual damage over timewear and tear or gradual damage over time

              Is Personal Possessions Cover included as standard?

              You can add Personal Possessions Cover when you buy our contents cover. That can be with either of the following policies:

              You can add Personal Possessions Cover when you get a quote and buy a suitable Home Insurance policy.

                                      Whether you need extra cover or not depends on your circumstances. However, it's important to note that:

                                      Contents insurance covers your personal belongings while they’re in your home.

                                      Personal Possessions Cover is optional extra cover. It covers your belongings:

                                      • anywhere in the UK (including your home)
                                      • when you or your family are abroad for up to 60 days in any one year

                                      Also, Personal Possessions Cover includes accidental loss and accidental damage. These aren’t included with home insurance as standard.

                                        Yes, phones are included with Personal Possessions Cover. But you might need to list a higher-value model separately, if it exceeds the single- item limit.
