As standard, on all our Buildings cover policies.
Available 24/7 with Your Insurance Account.
Buildings insurance covers the cost of repairing damage to the structure of your building. That’s the walls, windows and roof of your home. And it usually covers the cost of rebuilding your property if the worst happens.
Mortgage lenders will probably want you to have buildings insurance when you buy a home. And because it covers the building itself, it’s only suitable for homeowners.
Our Buildings Insurance covers the structure of your building and anything that’s built in. That means:
Monetary levels, excesses and exclusions apply. For full details of cover and exclusions, please see the policy booklet.
You can also add optional extras to your policy, like Home Emergency Cover and Family Legal Guard.
If you own your own home, Combined Buildings and Contents Insurance covers your building and contents in a single policy. And it can work out cheaper.
Our buildings insurance protects your bricks and mortar, as well as the permanent fixtures and fittings inside.
If the worst happens and you need to repair or rebuild your property, don't worry. Whether it's from falling branches, flood or fire, Tesco Home Insurance gives you unlimited cover to pay for the cost of fixing your home and any outbuildings – including the wall around the edge of your land.
We haven't forgotten the permanent fixtures in your home so rest assured that your built-in kitchen and wardrobes, showers and baths are covered too.
We will cover your property should it be exposed to subsidence or heave of the site on which the buildings stand, or in the event of a landslip.
As the owner of the property your liability is covered. Our buildings insurance gives you up to £2m protection if someone is injured, dies, or other circumstances occur where you are legally responsible as the owner of the property, to pay damages.
If you are both the owner and the occupier of the building, to protect yourself you will also need to arrange contents insurance which provides occupier's liability cover.
You're covered for any repairs to burst or freezing pipes, whether it's water pipes or those carrying heating oil.
And if a sewer pipe gets blocked, we'll pay up to £5,000 to cover the cost of getting into the pipe between the main sewer and your home and fixing the problem.
With our Home Emergency Cover, you're covered for emergency temporary repairs at home. And you can get support 24 hours a day.
That means you'll get a fast, temporary fix - day or night - while we assess the damage and help to get things back to normal.
You can add Home Emergency Cover to your Tesco Home Insurance policy for an additional cost. And you'll get a discount with your Clubcard.
You can check your cover by signing in or registering for Your Insurance Account.
Home Emergency cover is underwritten by Inter Partner Assistance S.A. UK Branch.
Accidents happen. So if your windows, the glass in your doors or even your solar panels get broken, we'll pay for replacements. We know that even the hardy bathroom sink isn't safe (aftershave bottles don’t bounce!) so the bathroom suite's covered too.
If you lose your house keys outside the home, or if they get stolen, we'll pay for new locks on your outside doors, helping to secure your home and your peace of mind.
If the damage to your home means that it isn't safe to stay there, we'll make sure that you and your loved ones, including your pets, have a suitable place to live while it's being repaired - up to a total of £50,000.
We also have a number of optional extras to boost your cover for an additional premium.
Monetary levels, excesses and exclusions apply. For full details of cover and exclusions please read the policy documents.
You can tailor your buildings insurance by adding these optional extras for an additional premium.
You'll get all the cover provided with our standard package, plus protection against things like:
