Winter sports holidays can come with a higher risk of needing to make a travel insurance claim, and it’s important not to assume that your standard policy covers all incidents.
Tesco Travel Insurance offers an optional winter sports add-on at an additional cost to your travel insurance policy. This includes:

Choosing your travel insurance policy
With Tesco Travel Insurance, you can find the right policy for you. Whether you’re planning only one winter getaway in the next year or you have a couple of ski trips planned.
With Clubcard Prices, Clubcard members get a 10% discount when you buy direct. Discount doesn’t apply to add-ons. Just enter your Clubcard number when you get your quote.

Travel Insurance FAQs
Tesco Travel Insurance provides cover for your pre-existing medical conditions – after you have purchased your policy, you must contact our medical screening helpline on 0345 030 6124 if:
- you are diagnosed with a new medical condition;
- you experience new or recurring symptoms or have an undiagnosed condition;
- your doctor or other medical professional make any changes to your prescribed medication including the dosage;
- you receive in-patient medical treatment; or
- you are placed on a waiting list for investigation or medical treatment;
When you call, we will ask you specific questions about your medical condition(s).
After you complete your declaration, you may need to pay an additional premium to allow cover to continue for your pre-existing medical conditions and associated conditions. There is also a chance that we will not be able to provide you with cover for these conditions, in which case we will cancel your policy and refund you a portion of the amount you have currently paid unless you have not made a claim and do not intend to make a claim.
Tesco Travel Insurance can provide cover for pre-existing medical conditions - when you purchase the insurance, you must tell us about the pre-existing medical conditions of anyone to be insured on the policy. If you do not tell us about any pre-existing medical conditions, this may impact any claim you make. Please note there may be an additional charge to cover some medical conditions.
The policy will be void if you travel against the advice of a medical practitioner or your public transport provider.

A wide range of sports and activities are covered as standard on all of the policies at no additional cost as long as you are participating on a recreational and non-professional basis during any trip and you are following local laws and regulations and using any recommended safety equipment.

Optional Golf Cover and Winter Sports Cover may be available to purchase at extra cost to provide more cover for those specific sports trips.

Yes, cruise holidays are covered under the normal policy terms and conditions. You should ensure that you have cover for all the destinations that you will visit on the cruise.

How we collect and use your personal data
Tesco Personal Finance Ltd (trading as Tesco Insurance) acts as an intermediary for this policy and partner with Rock Insurance Services Limited (ROCK) to arrange and administer Tesco Travel Insurance. ROCK partner with:

Important information
If you want to insure a traveller who is 80 years old or over, you may be able to find cover through the Money and Pensions Scheme (MaPS), which has a directory listing companies that might be able to help you.
We can insure some pre-existing medical conditions. For people who have trouble finding travel insurance for pre-existing medical conditions, the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has a directory of specialist insurers. To find out more, or if on the odd occasion we are unable to provide the cover you need, contact BIBA on 0370 950 1790 (9am - 5:30pm).
You can also search BIBA’s medical directory online. This is a free service, and you do not need to purchase a policy.
- Please make sure that the information you provide is accurate for each traveller. If the information you provide isn’t accurate, we may reduce or reject your claim, or cancel your policy without a refund.
- We'll search our records for your Tesco Clubcard number, and we may access and use information (including transactional information, name and address) from your Tesco Clubcard account. This will help us and your insurer to assess your premium and will only be used to make a positive impact on your premium.
Please make sure all of the following statements are true before continuing with the quote:
- You are a resident of and are registered with a doctor in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man.
- Your trip starts and ends in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man.
- You have not spent more than 183 days abroad during the 12 months before this policy was issued or your trip was booked (whichever is later).
- You are buying this policy before you leave your primary residence in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man to start your trip.
- You are not travelling with the intention of receiving medical treatment.
- You are not travelling against the advice of a doctor.
- Everyone covered on this policy is under the age of 80.
- You have not already purchased a policy to cover you for this duration, and you intend to travel with this policy still active.
Although our policies cover a broad range of scenarios, we can't cover every eventuality, so please see the list below for some of the things that aren't included:
- Pre-existing medical conditions unless declared and cover accepted.
- Travelling against medical advice or with the intention of obtaining medical treatment abroad.
- Certain hazardous sports and activities may not be covered under this policy – see policy wording for details.
- Circumstances you were aware of before your policy was issued or journey was booked (whichever is the later) that might result in a claim.

Data may be obtained from and shared with the wider Tesco Group, credit reference agencies and fraud prevention agencies on an ongoing basis.
We will carry out a soft credit search with TransUnion when generating a quote for you. We do this to assess whether we think you can afford to take the product. If you buy a policy and choose to pay monthly, this search will become visible to other credit providers.

How we collect and use your personal data
Tesco Personal Finance Ltd takes the security of your data seriously. Detailed information on how we handle your data and your rights under data protection laws is available in our privacy notice.
We collect data when you browse our website (e.g. your IP address), request a quotation, partially complete a quotation and do not purchase; or provide data indirectly via price comparison sites. We keep quote data for up to 7 years and we may use this information if you apply for a product again in the future.
We will use your data to give you quotes, provide our services to you, perform eligibility checks, work out financial and insurance risk, manage debt, protect you and us against fraud and financial crime and manage and develop our business. Automated decisions may be taken to detect crime and for credit scoring.
We use data such as your name and address, to find any Clubcard(s) that are linked to your address. That might be your Clubcard, the Clubcard of other family member(s), or the Clubcard of house or flat mates. We may use this information to tailor our communications and to try to bring you better terms, deals or offers, and this may include profiling on an on-going basis. We may also award Clubcard points.
Data may be obtained from and shared with the wider Tesco Group, credit reference agencies (CRAs) and fraud prevention agencies (FPAs). The FPAs will potentially use it to prevent fraud and money-laundering, verify your identity and establish your right to UK Residency. Depending on the outcome, this could result in the refusal of certain services, finance or employment. We will supply your personal information to CRAs and they will give us information about you on an ongoing basis.
