          The impact of uninsured drivers

According to the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB), there’s over 1 million uninsured vehicles on UK roads each year*.

There are different reasons why drivers might not have insurance. They might not realise they're not insured to drive different cars, for example. Or they might want to avoid paying for it.

Not having car insurance can put other road users in danger. It can cause insurance premiums to go up. And it could leave you out of pocket if you need to claim for repairs.

Our uninsured driver promise can help if your car’s hit by an uninsured driver and you need to make a claim.

First, report the incident to the police, if you need to. And to your insurer as soon as possible.

                  Good to know

Never apologise or say you’re sorry to the driver of the vehicle that caused the accident. If you do, it could look like you’re admitting you were at fault.
