What is Maximum Benefit Pet Insurance?
Our Maximum Benefit Pet Insurance covers vet fees for new illnesses and accidental injuries up to the maximum amount on your policy. The maximum amount is known as your vet fees limit and can be either £5,000 or £7,500 per condition.
This helps you to maximise your claim allowance if your pet gets sick or has an accident. You can use your full allowance for each new condition they get treated for, for as long as you have the policy.
Max Benefit is our mid-level Pet Insurance policy. It's available for cats and dogs from 8 weeks old.
What does our Maximum Benefit Pet Insurance cover?

Your pet insurance excess
Excesses will apply to your policy, which will affect the amount of premium you pay and how much you'll have to pay if you make a claim.
Your excess will increase when your dog turns 5 or 8 years old, depending on their breed. Or when your cat turns 10 years old. And you’ll need to pay 20% of any claim you make after they reach that age too.
Make sure you understand the excesses when you get a quote or start a new policy. You'll find all the information you need in the policy documents.

Budgeting for increasing renewal prices
As pets get older, they’re unfortunately more likely to get ill. That’s why your renewal price increases each year and your excess will increase when your pet turns a certain age (5 or 8 years old for a dog, depending on the breed, and 10 for a cat).
Please also note, an overage excess will apply to your policy when your pet turns a certain age (5 or 8 years old for a dog, depending on the breed, and 10 for a cat). After that, you'll have to pay 20% of any claim you make.
Making a claim
A claim being paid increases the likelihood of future claims. In turn, this may cause your renewal price to increase. That increase will depend on your pet’s breed, age and health, so there's no limit to how much your renewal price can increase over time.

Maximum Benefit Pet Insurance FAQs
Maximum benefit pet insurance provides cover up to a set amount for each accident or illness. The amount is known as your vet fees limit. Once you reach the limit for a condition, you'll have to pay for further treatment yourself.
Maximum benefit provides cover up to your vet fees limit for each condition. Lifetime pet insurance covers ongoing treatment for a condition throughout your pet’s life. With lifetime cover, your vet fees limit is reinstated each year.
The type of cover you go for depends on your pet’s needs and your own budget. Lifetime cover provides longer-term protection for chronic conditions. Maximum benefit is more affordable but has limits for each condition your pet may have.
Think about your pet’s age, breed and health. For pets prone to long-term illnesses, lifetime cover may be better. For younger, healthy pets, maximum benefit cover can be a cost-effective option.

Renewal costs
It's important to budget for increases to your policy as your pet gets older. Your premiums are likely to go up each year - there's no limit to how much they can go up, and the increase could be significant for you each year and over the policy's lifetime.
Sadly, as cats and dogs get older, they're more likely to get ill. That's why:
- your renewal price will increase each year.your renewal price will increase each year.
- an overage excess will apply to your policy when your pet turns a certain age (5 or 8 years old for a dog, depending on the breed, and 10 for a cat). After that, you'll have to pay your set excess plus 20% of the claim amount.an overage excess will apply to your policy when your pet turns a certain age (5 or 8 years old for a dog, depending on the breed, and 10 for a cat). After that, you'll have to pay your set excess plus 20% of the claim amount.
How much your premium goes up depends a number of things, including your pet's breed, age and health. And there's no limit to how much your renewal price can go up over time. If a claim's paid out on your policy, your premium could more than double at renewal.
