When should I review my home insurance?

You should review your home insurance policy whenever your circumstances change. That could be a life event or something as simple as buying new furniture for the house.

These things can affect your cover. So you shouldn’t leave it until your insurance renewal to tell us about them.

When to tell your insurer about a change in circumstances

If you have Tesco Home Insurance, tell us about a change when it happens. And make sure you give us accurate and up-to-date information when you come to renew your policy.

Letting us know about changes in your circumstances helps us to keep your cover up to date. And avoids problems if you need to make a claim.

Life changes that need a home insurance review

These changes can affect your buildings insurance, contents insurance or combined cover. Tell us about them, and we’ll check your cover’s still right for you.

You don't need to tell us about any administrative, clerical or childminding work you do at home or in any building that’s part of your property. As long as there are no additional employees.

Most people think about their cover at renewal. It’s the perfect time to complete a home insurance review, if you haven’t already done so during the year.

Home insurance helps to protect your home and belongings in case something happens to them. But it’s important to remember that it doesn’t cover everything.

To find what it doesn’t cover, see our guide - What’s not covered by your home insurance.
