When you get your home insurance renewal invite, it’s a good idea to check the price and understand why it’s changed.
If you’re a Tesco Home Insurance customer, we’ll explain:
The best time to renew your home insurance is usually around 3-4 weeks before your policy ends. That gives you enough time to shop around and see if you can save some money.
Letting your policy auto-renew can be less hassle, but it's better to compare quotes from different providers. That way, you can find the right cover at the right price.
Home insurance premiums have been rising recently, for a number of reasons. Including:
Here’s a quick look at what's causing these changes - and how they could affect your home insurance renewal.
Weather plays a big role in the rise of home insurance costs. Storms like Babet, Ciaran and Debi led to a record number of weather-related claims. And more claims are being made due to severe weather conditions - such as heavy rain, cold winters and heatwaves.
Tesco Home Emergency Cover can give you extra protection for an additional cost. You get up to £1000 worth of cover for each call-out, and there’s no limit on the number of call-outs you can make
Monetary limits, excesses and exclusions apply.
The cost of labour and materials needed to make home repairs has surged. Insurance companies have had to raise premiums to keep up with the higher costs.
Higher prices, expensive energy, fewer workers and supply problems are making home repairs cost more.
With all of these things affecting your premiums, it's likely that the renewal price for your home insurance will be higher than before.
