With Tesco Life Insurance, you can help to give your family some financial security in case you can’t be around to look after them.
You can choose Family Protection or Mortgage Protection. And it pays out during the term of the policy if:

A payout could help to replace your income if you have a family to support. It could also help to pay off your mortgage, clear your debts or send your children to university.
Bear in mind, life insurance isn't a savings or investment plan, and the policy has no cash-in value at any time.
You'll find full details about the payout in the policy booklet.
We’ve partnered with Aviva to bring you affordable and reliable life cover. They’re experts in life insurance and a provider you can trust.
Aviva provides the policy and they’ll manage it for you too.
As well as your Tesco benefits, you’ll get health and wellbeing services with the Aviva DigiCare+ app, provided by Square Health and other selected partners.

*The health check is a chargeable service.
Choose Tesco Life Insurance to provide financial support for your family and save money with your Clubcard.
With Family Protection, you can leave a lump sum to your loved ones if you die during the term of the policy. You can also make a claim if you become terminally ill and aren’t expected to live longer than 12 months.
A payout could help your family cover living costs and other expenses if you’re not around to support them. It could also help to pay off debts or help to send your children to university.
If you go for Family Protection, your premiums and cover stay the same throughout the term of your policy. It's also called level cover, and you can choose:
With Mortgage Protection, you can help your family pay off a repayment mortgage if you die during the term of the policy.
You'll pay the same premium each month, but your cover will gradually go down over time, just as a repayment mortgage does. It’s also known as Decreasing Cover, and you can choose:
You can take out a joint policy if you and your partner want combined cover. Be aware, though, that Aviva will only pay out once - if one of you dies during the term of the policy - and then your cover will end.
If you'd like cover to continue after one of you dies, you could take out 2 single policies. But this might be more expensive.
With Tesco Life Insurance, you’ll get some great benefits from Tesco.
A Big Win
We’ll email your gift card to you after you’ve paid 6 months’ premiums with instructions on how to use it. You’ll need a current Tesco Life Insurance policy to be eligible. And it’s one gift card per policy.
Little Life Helps
Your coupons will appear automatically in your Tesco app after your policy starts. You’ll need to have the Tesco app on your phone and be opted in to marketing to get them.

Lump sum payment
You can choose cover of up to £5million and Aviva will pay out your chosen amount after a successful claim.
Protection if you die
Aviva will pay a cash lump sum if you die during the term of the policy. If they pay out, your policy ends, and they won’t pay any more claims.
Terminal illness
You’ll get your lump sum payment early if you’re diagnosed with a terminal illness, as defined in the policy terms and conditions, and you’re not expected to live longer than 12 months. If Aviva pay out, your policy ends, and they won’t pay any more claims.
A separation benefit
If you separate from your partner after taking out a joint policy, Aviva could split your joint policy into 2 single policies.
House purchase cover
If you’re taking out cover when buying a house, Aviva will give you free life insurance for up to 90 days. This begins when they’ve accepted your application and you’ve exchanged contracts or completed missives, as long as you’ve given them a future start date that ties in with the completion of your house purchase. Terms apply. See policy conditions for full details.
Length of cover
You can choose the length of cover you need - from 5 to 50 years, or until you’re 90 years old.
Not paying your premiums
If you stop paying your premiums, your cover will end, and you won’t get anything back.
No cash-in value
Aviva will only pay out on a successful claim. Your Tesco Life Insurance policy doesn’t have a cash-in value at any time. There’s only one exception: if you cancel within 30 days of the policy start date or the date you get your policy documents, whichever is later. In that case, Aviva will refund any premium you've paid.
Suicide and self-inflicted injuries in the first year
Aviva won't pay out the lump sum if you die from suicide or intentional, self-inflicted injury in the first 12 months of the policy.
You’ll get your quote from Aviva, who provide and administer our Life Insurance policy. They have a 5-star rating for life insurance and pay out on 98.8% of claims*.

If you’ve got a mortgage, it might be a good idea to get life insurance. If you die during the term of the policy, the lump sum can help to pay off the outstanding balance on your mortgage, so your family can stay in their home. Some lenders strongly recommend taking out life insurance as part of their mortgage offer.
Mortgage Protection, also known as decreasing term life insurance, is built with mortgages in mind. And it’s one of the options with Tesco Life Insurance.
